The Rev. George D. Coffey, Sr., 84, of 1907 Netherwood Rd., died Sunday January 23, 1983. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lula Dodd Coffey; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce C. Spain; a son, George D. Coffey, Jr., all of Richmond; one sister, Mrs. Sallie C. Parrent of Vesuvius, VA; also eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Funeral services will be conducted 2 P.M. Wednesday, Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment Maury Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest View Rescue Squad or Memorial Fund, Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church.

Rev. George Dewey Coffey and Lula Elizabeth Dodd were married circa 1923 in Virginia. They appeared in the census on 12 April 1930 in Appomattox Co., VA.28194 Lula Elizabeth Dodd, daughter of Arthur Nathaniel Dodd and Nannie Baylor, was born circa 1904. Lula died in Virginia on 9 July 2003 and was buried at Maury Cemetery in Richmond, Independent City, VA on 11 July 2003 .28195,28196

Eternal rest came to Lula Dodd Coffey, age 98, on July 9, 2003. She lived a life of love and dedication to her Lord. Her husband, Rev. George D. Coffey and her son, George D. Coffey, Jr. preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Spain and her husband, Tom; grandchildren, Mary Kay Madison, George, Martha, and Charlie Coffey, Debbie Dunn, Cindy Norville, Clarke Spain, and Kay Sailsbury. Also surviving are 12 great-grandchildren, Heather Coffey, Joy Moody, Adam Madison, Natalie, Nathan, and Mollie Norville, Ashley and Candace Spain, and Zachary, Gabriel, Jenna, and Hannah Sailsbury. After many years of service to United Methodist churches in the Virginia Conference with her husband, they retired in Richmond and continued serving in retirement. Eventually they joined Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church and enjoyed the fellowship there for many years. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today). Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment Maury Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church, 5900 Hull Street Road, Richmond, Va. 23224.
