Whitley City — Gladys Mae Coffey, 80 years, Stearns, Kentucky died June 22, 2010 at Wayne County Hospital, Monticello, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at McCreary County Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Shepherd and Rev. George Allen Coffey officiating. Burial was in Sherd Dobbs Cemetery.

She was born at Matewan, West Virginia on May 16, 1930 the daughter of the late Willie and Minnie Carter Coffey. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Her husband, Eddie Pearson and her parents precede her in death. Glenna Fay Coffey is the deceased daughter and Clinton Dobbs the deceased son-in-law. The deceased brother and sister are Hurschel Coffey and Helen Thompson. The deceased grandchildren are Shanda Dobbs and Allen Lee Bowden.

Survivors include her children, Robert Lee Pearson; Linda Dobbs, Stearns, Kentucky and Viola Smith and husband, Archie, Whitley City, Kentucky. The surviving brother and sister are Billy Coffey, Somerset, Kentucky and Elsie Dingler, Haleyville, Alabama. Five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren survive.

Glynda Faye Coffey was born on 14 November 1955 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL. Glynda died by drowning on 17 June 1970 at the age of 14 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL and was buried at Sherd Dobbs Cemetery in Whitley City, McCreary Co., KY.47673

Glynda Faye Coffey, 14, of Route 1, Stearns, died June 17 in Birmingham, Ala. She accidentally drowned while swimming with a group of children. Glynda Faye, her sisters and her grandfather Willie Coffey were visiting relatives in Birmingham at the time of her death.

She was born in Birmingham, Ala., Nov. 15, 1955 but had made her home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Coffey of Route 1, Stearns, for most of her lifetime. She was a member of the Cherokee Baptist Church.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev.. Roy Burke of Monticello officiating. Burial was in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery with the Hickman Funeral Home in charge.

Besides the grandparents she is survived by two sisters, Viola and Lynda Coffey and a half brother, Robert Lee Pearson, all of Stearns.
