5489. Louis Monroe Coffey was born on 5 January 1902 in Lawrence Co., AL. He lived with his parents in Moulton, Lawrence Co., AL on 30 April 1910. Louis died on 29 October 1957 at the age of 55 in Moulton, Lawrence Co., AL and was buried at Montgomery Cemetery in Moulton, Lawrence Co., AL.17803,17804,17805

MOULTON -- Louis Monroe Coffey, 55, of Moulton, died at 3:30 a.m. today in Lawrence County Hospital where he had been since early yesterday. He had been ill for some time.

Funeral services are to be conducted Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Wren Baptist Church. The body is scheduled to lie in state at the church for one hour before the funeral.

The Rev. Martin Banks and the Rev. Will Wear are to officiate. Burial is to be in Montgomery cemetery near here. Brown of Moulton is in charge.

Pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class at Wren Baptist Church.

He was a native of Lawrence County and served in the U.S. Army from 1920 until 1934. He was discharged because of ill health. He had made his home in Indianapolis, Ins., until 1950 when he returned to Moulton where he had lived since.

He was a member of Moose Lodge 117 of Indianapolis, and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Baptist Church at Wren.

Moulton American Legion Post and Moulton National Guard is to be in charge of the military graveside service.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Lena Moore Coffey; three sisters, Mrs. Maudie Johnson, Falkville, Mrs. Mamie Montgomery of Decatur; and Mrs. Merle Roper of Decatur; four brothers, Will, Arthur, Elmer, and Russell Coffey, all of Moulton. 

A living couple was married. Living (private).
