Ray Stratton Coffey Sr., 91, of Lexington, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Kendal at Lexington, where he was cared for with great love and kindness. Born April 7, 1921, in Amherst County, a son of the late Ernest Coffey and Ethel Stratton Coffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ridge Coffey.

Ray was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, with the rank of Pharmacist Mate First Class. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier.
Surviving are his children, Ray Stratton Coffey, Jr.; William Webster Coffey; Janice C. Bowen; and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norman Tippens officiating. Burial to follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.

Ray Stratton Coffey and Evelyn M. Ridge were married on 14 February 1956 in Lexington, VA.42771 Evelyn M. Ridge, daughter of John William Ridge and Elsie Marie Bogle, was born on 23 July 1924 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. Evelyn died on 16 December 2010 at the age of 86 at Benjamin Borden Health Center in Lexington, VA and was buried at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens in Lexington, VA.42772,42773

Evelyn Ridge Coffey, 86, of Lexington, VA, died Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Benjamin Borden Health Center. Born July 23, 1924, in Kentucky, the daughter of the late John William Ridge and Elsie Bogle Ridge. Evelyn was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she retired as their secretary and historian. She was very active in church and civic organizations. Surviving are her husband, Ray Stratton Coffey; two sons, Ray Stratton Coffey, Jr.; William Webster Coffey; one daughter, Janice C. Bowen; six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Norman Tippens officiating. A private burial to take place in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at Trinity United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington, VA.
