21183. Vivian Gray Coffey was born on 4 April 1922 in Maxwelton, Greenbrier Co., WV. Vivian died in Alleghany Co., VA on 5 October 2009 and was buried at Alleghany Memorial Park Cemetery in Covington, VA on 8 October 2009 .

Mrs. Vivian Grey Coffey Lowe, 86, died October 5, 2009 at the Brian Center Alleghany. 

She was born April 4, 1923 in Greenbrier County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Jasper Loving Coffey and Maude Banton Coffey. 

She was the wife of the late James Thurman Lowe Sr. 

Mrs. Lowe was the last surviving member of her family and has been a resident of this community since 1939.

She was a member of Parrish Court United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the church.

She is survived by two daughters, Virginia (Jenny) Padgett and husband Elvin of Jacksonville, N.C. and Betty Jean Lowe Wright and husband Paul Lewis of Covington. Five grandchildren, Clayton Thurman Lowe, Jeffrey Miles Lowe and wife, Rommi, Paul Lewis (Skipper) Wright, William Shane Wright and Phillip Ray Padgett and wife Stacey; 10 great-grandchildren, Kara Lowe, Caleb Lowe, Emily Wright, Molly Harmon, Matthew Shepard, Mary Padgett, P. J. Padgett, Elijah Padgett, Connor Padgett and Allyson Ripley and two close companions, Mary Southard and Bonnie Hepler. 

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, James Thurman Lowe Jr.; two brothers, Hayden Coffey and Andrew Coffey and by two sisters, Merle Coffey, Gladys White and a special companion Leona Hoke. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Loving Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug E. Hollenbeck officiating assisted by the Rev. Jim Hassmer. 

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. 

Active pallbearers will be Skipper Wright, Clayton Lowe, Jeffrey Lowe, Pete Lewis, Thomas Edward Hayes, Bobby Hepler, Preston Hoke, and Steve White. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Wright and Bob White. 

The family received friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home. 

The family suggests that donations take the form of contributions to the Covington Fire and Rescue, 435 W. Hawthorne Street, Covington, Va. 24426.
