Ody William Coffey, 79, of Massies Mill, died Monday, March 29, 1999 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Nelson County, Jan. 21, 1920, he was the son of the late Ody V. and Esther L. Coffey. He was a World War II US Army veteran, serving with the 83rd Thunderbolt Division and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Erma Auer Coffey; three sisters, Mrs. Roy C. Taylor (Kathleen) of Springfield, Mrs. Byron Roman (Flossie) of Lynchburg and Mrs. H. N. Taylor (Bernice) of Monroe. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 1999 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by the Rev. Barry Miles with burial in Jonesboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Roseland Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 39, Roseland, Va. 22967

Erma Irene Auer Coffey Erma Irene Auer Coffey, 92, of Roseland, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Pennsylvania, November 19, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Auer and Hannah Allebach Auer.

She is survived by a nephew, Don Roman of Tiverton, RI; nieces, Carolyn Thayer, Suzanne Gouyer, Elodie Thompson, Pamela Taylor, all of Monroe, Sandra Bennett of Manassas, and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Coffey Taylor of Monroe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ody William Coffey. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by Pastor Brian Warren. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 53 Harpers Creek Lane Tyro, VA 22976 or to Roseland Rescue Squad POB 39 Roseland, VA 22967.
