Sixth Generation

1074. Armstead N. (Armstrong?) Coffey was born in July 1836 in Burke Co., NC. Armstead enlisted in the 26th Regt., NC Infantry, CSA in 1862 .4290 He appeared in the census on 5 May 1910 in Morganton, Burke Co., NC.4291 Armstead died in Morganton, Burke Co., NC on 4 June 1915 and was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in Morganton, Burke Co., NC in June 1915 .4292,4293

In some of his children's birth records he is named Armstead and in others his given name was Armstrong. That could be caused by transcription error; the transcriber not recognizing "Armstrong" was actually "Armstead." The only place I have found the middle initial "N" is on his headstone. Military service records list him simply as Armstead Coffey.
