Swanson James Coffey, 86, of Stuarts Draft, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 with his loving family by his side.

Born May 27, 1923 in Montibello, VA, he was the son of the late Chester Berry and Roby Fitzgerald Coffey. He was united in marriage with Madge Campbell Coffey on December 23, 1945.

He was a member of Valley Baptist Church, Stuarts Draft since its beginning. Mr. Coffey retired from DuPont after 36 years of service and enjoyed farming, gardening and the great outdoors, but nothing could surpass the love that he had for his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and most of all his wife Madge who preceded him in death on February 3, 2008. They shared a devoted and blessed union of 62 years.

Mr. Coffey was a WW II Veteran that served faithfully in the United States Army. As part of his service to his country, he was one of the brave men that stormed the beaches of Normandy in June of 1944.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Van and Bernard Coffey, and one sister, Monnie Campbell. Most recently he was preceded by his eldest son, Fred Coffey.

He is survived by his three sons, Ronnie and Dianne, Dennis and Linda, Gary and Cary Coffey, two daughters, Betty and Russell Kincaid, Debbie and Conway Mull, and daughter-in-law Teresa Coffey. His grandchildren, Todd and Kaki Coffey, Troy and Melanie Coffey, Terry and Krissy Coffey, Chad Coffey, Thad and Billy Jo Coffey, Georgia and Doug Dunkle, Tommy Brown, Shane and Lynette Brown, Shannon Brown and Carlean Stevens, Angie Kincaid, Stacie and David Persinger, Tonya Coffey, Van Coffey, Heath Coffey and Cary Allen, Chris Marshall, Derek Mull and Kelly Giffin, Heather andJack Hinton, and Mikaela and Nicholas Coffey; great grandchildren Kara, Hannah, Jacob, and Wyatt Coffey, Jordan, Aaron and Zachary Gray, Ssgt. David and Whitney Wilkins, J.P. Butterworth, Nikki, Josh, Rachael, Colton and Noah Brown, Lauryn, Holly and Caleb Coffey, Brooke, Samantha and Kooper Persinger, Dakota and Dallas Coffey, lance Marshall, Mackenzie Hinton and Ryleigh Coffey; and great-great grandchildren Christopher,Jacob, Nicholas and Adaline Wilkins.
He is also survived by two sisters, Claris Grant and her husband Ed and Edna Smith and her husband Raymond.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Valley Baptist Church with Pastors Frankie Hall and Earl Monroe. Burial will follow in Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be all his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

Ronnie Franklin "Speedy" Coffey, 63, of Stuarts Draft, passed away in Augusta County on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 with his loving family by his side.

Born February 24, 1948 in Staunton, VA, he was the son of the late Swanson James Coffey and Madgelina Lucy "Madge" Campbell Coffey. He was united in marriage to Dianne Jones Coffey on August 9, 1977.

Ronnie served two years in the United State Army with a tour of duty in Okinawa, Japan for 18 months.

He retired after 34 ½ years of service with Ntelos. He was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and spending his winters with his wife and friends in sunny Florida. Mr. Coffey was an avid softball and cornhole player as well. Ronnie was a kind man who never met a stranger and who never lost sight of his love and devotion to his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Freddie James Coffey.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five sons; Chad Coffey, Thad Coffey, Tommy Brown, Shane Brown and wife Lynette, Shannon Brown and wife Carlean; daughter, Georgia Dunkle and husband Doug; grandchildren, Lauryn, Holly and Caleb Coffey, David Wilkins and wife Britney, Jake Dunkle, Shantell "Nikki" Brown, Joshua Brown, JP Butterworth, Rachel Brown, Colton Brown, and Noah Brown; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas and Addy Navarro; two brothers, Dennis Coffey and wife Linda, Gary Coffey and wife Cary; two sisters, Betty Kincaid and husband Russell, Debbie Mull and husband Conway; sister-in-law, Teresa Coffey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and very special friends Mike and Vickie Almarode.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, with Pastors Earl Monroe and Frank Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Stuarts Draft VFW Post 9339.

Active pallbearers will be Todd Coffey, Troy Coffey, Terry Coffey, Van Coffey, Heath Coffey, Chris Marshall, Derek Mull, Nicholas Coffey and Mike Almarode.
Honorary pallbearers will be his remaining nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the funeral home.
