Clarris Christine (Coffey) Grant, 85, wife of Edward C. Grant Sr. of 163 Hilderbrand Circle, Staunton, died Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

She was born June 6, 1924, in Nelson County, a daughter of the late Chester B. and Ruby (Fitzgerald) Coffey.

Mrs. Grant was a homemaker and a member of Laurel Hill Full Gospel Church.

In addition to her husband, family members include a son, Edward C. Grant Jr. and his fiancee, Joyce Mace Clifton; and a sister, Edna Smith and her husband, Raymond, of Winchester.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Swanson Coffey, Van Coffey and Bernard Coffey, and a sister, Monty Campbell.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, in the Laurel Hill Full Gospel Church by the Revs. William Strickler and Pete Grimm. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Reuben Wells, Jonathan Wells, Matthew Wells, Joel Wells, Steve Arehart and James Garten.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cleveland Rose, Scotty Buchanan, Billy Strickler, Allen Strickler and Ed Waitier.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Edward Clinton Grant Sr., 89, widower of Clarris Christine (Coffey) Grant, of 163 Hildebrand Circle, died May 31, 2010, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Montebello, a son of the late Charles Berry and Hattie Helen (Campbell) Grant.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Grant was a self-employed carpenter and farmer.

In addition to his wife, who preceded him in death April 11, 2010, he also was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert Grant, Roy Grant and Berry Grant Sr.

Family members include: a son, Edward C. Grant Jr., and his fianceé, Joyce Mace Clifton; a brother, Kennan L. Grant; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Clarence T. Livick; and a sister-in-law, Emma Louise Grant.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Jim Rogers, William Strickler and Peter Grimm. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Reuben Wells, Jonathan Wells, Matthew Wells, Joel Wells, Cleveland Rose and Scotty Buchanan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Wells, Ronnie Buchanan, James Gardner and Steve Arehart.

There will be no public visitation.
