Sarah died on 26 November 2011 at the age of 76 at 3801 Valley Stream Drive (home) in Raleigh, Wake Co., NC and was buried at Raleigh Memorial Park in Raleigh, Wake Co., NC on 29 November 2011 .44198

Sarah Buie Coffey, 76, of 3801 Valley Stream Drive, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 26, 2011. Sarah was born in Winston-Salem, on September 6, 1935 to the late William Monroe Buie and Lillian Hovis Buie as their only child. She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1953 and the UNC School of Nursing with a BS Degree in 1957 as a member of their third graduating class.

On May 9, 1959, she married the Rev. Jack Franklin Coffey and shared in his ministry at the Petworth-Montgomery Hills Baptist Church in Washington DC. She continued at his side in ministries at Downtown Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA, and New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC from which he retired in 1995 after twenty-eight years of service. Following his retirement, she went on to serve with him in the Interim Pastorates at the Hope Valley Baptist in Durham, Trinity Baptist, Samaria Baptist, and Tabernacle Baptist, all of which are in Raleigh.

With her own career, she retired from the NC Department of Facility Services in 1998 after thirteen years of service there.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at New Hope Baptist Church, 4301 Louisburg Road, Raleigh, NC 27604.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. The family will also receive relatives and friends prior to the service on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 12:00 pm to 1:45 pm at New Hope Baptist Church.

Burial: Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
Surviving: Husband, Dr. Jack Franklin Coffey; Son, Jack Franklin "Chip" Coffey, Jr. and wife, Danna of Atlanta, GA; Daughter, Catherine C. Bolen and husband, William of Laytonsville, MD; Grandchildren: Beth Coffey, Lee Coffey, Will Bolen, and Rachel Bolen.
Sarah requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Debt Retirement Fund, 4301 Louisburg Road, Raleigh, NC 27604, or Campbell University c/o the Jack and Sarah Coffey Scholarship, Post Office Box 567, Buies Creek, NC 27506, or to a church of your choice.
