Rudolph Hamilton Coffey Sr., 73, of Little Lake Lane, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, in a Charlottesville nursing home.

Born Oct. 17, 1926, in Rockfish Valley, Nelson County, he was a son of the late Samuel P. Coffey and June Hilderbrand Brower Coffey. He was a retired civil service employee with the Norfolk Naval Base. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Clifford Baptist Church in Clifford, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Nooney Coffey; a daughter, Erma M. Miles and her husband, John, of Saudi Arabia; two sons, Rudolph H. Coffey Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Stuarts Draft and Samuel E. Coffey of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mable A. Painter and Evelyne P. Gochenour, both of Waynesboro; a brother, John Davis Coffey Sr. of Edenbury; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Clifford Baptist Church by Dr. Michael Fitzgerald. Interment will be in Woodland Memorial Cemetery at Colleen. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorial contributions consider the Clifford Baptist Church Building Fund in Clifford, VA 24533.

The family will receive friends at all times at the family residence, and friends may call at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston at any time.

Rudolph Hamilton Coffey and Erma Marlene Nooney were married on 1 May 1948 in Norfolk, VA.43646 Erma Marlene Nooney, daughter of Ernest Sanganetta Nooney and Erma Este Barnes, was born on 15 August 1931 in Norfolk, VA. Erma died in Vrginia on 26 June 2019 and was buried at Woodland Cemetery in Arlington, Nelson Co., VA on 6 July 2019 .43647

Erma Marlene Coffey (Gram) was born in Norfolk, VA August 15, 1931 where she resided most of her life. Before moving to the mountains of Va, she since then lived in NC and the last nine years has been resident of Massachusetts. She went to be with her Lord on June 26, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her husband Rudy, Sr. and her mother Erma Nooney.

She left behind her son and wife Sam & Cindy her son Rudy, Jr. and her daughter Erma Miles. Erma had 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She also had two loving sisters Patricia Williams and Carol Horner.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Woodland Memorial Park, Arrington with Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzgerald officiating.

We have truly lost our Angel, we will smile up to you when we think of you MOM.
