Mrs. Lillian Roberts Sweitzer, age 71, of 1647 Highway 105, Boone, died Saturday, December 18, 2010, at UNC Hospital System Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Sweitzer was born August 2, 1939 in Watauga County, a daughter of Blanche Keller Roberts and the late Marvin Woodrow Roberts. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Sweitzer was a charter member of Greenway Baptist Church and attended Foscoe Christian Church.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Sweitzer is survived by her husband, John Franklin Sweitzer of the home; three daughters, Paula S. Elliott and husband George of Belhaven, North Carolina, Evelyn R. Hurst and husband Walter of New Bern, North Carolina, and Anne Marie Sweitzer of Hillsborough, North Carolina; one son, John T. Sweitzer and wife Rhonda of Godwin, North Carolina; six granddaughters, Patsy, Christine, Kelly, Brenda, Haley, and Catherine; four grandsons, George, John W. , Colton, and Richard; one sister, Malinda Wilcox and husband Frank of Lenoir, and one brother, Charles "Sonny" Roberts of Boone. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Roberts; one sister, Dorothy VanDyke, and one brother-in-law, Ned VanDyke.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Roberts Sweitzer will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, December 21, 2010, at 1:00 o'clock, at Greenway Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 12:00 until 1:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Harold Bennett and Dr. David Luster. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon, from 12:00 until 1:00 o'clock, at the church, prior to the service.
