Mrs. A. C. Pickard Claimed By Death

Chapel Hill, Oct. 9.-Mrs. A. Clarence Pickard died early this morning in Duke hospital following an operation. Funeral will be held in Chapel Hill Baptist church Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. Pickard has been connected with the university since 1918 when she came to Chapel Hill as secretary to the department of education. Besides these duties she served as assistant to the late Professor N. W. Walker. Mrs. Pickard was an active leader in the work of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pickard, before her marriage in December, 1922 to A. Clarence Pickard of Chapel Hill was Louise Coffey, of Morganton. In addition to her husband she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Nort [sic] [Nora] Odell Coffey' and two sisters, Mrs. Burtis Connelly, of Morganton, and Mrs. Julian Finch, of Bailey.

Louise Coffey and Alfred Clarence Pickard were married on 28 December 1922 in Burke Co., NC.27213 They27213 appeared in the census on 19 April 1940 at with his mother in Chapel Hill, Orange Co., NC.27214 Alfred Clarence Pickard was born circa 1889 in North Carolina.
