18120. Margaret V. Hampton was born on 12 May 1918 in Watauga Co., NC. Margaret died on 16 August 2006 at the age of 88 at Watuaga Medical Center in Boone, Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Boone, Watauga Co., NC.44963

Mrs. Margaret Hampton Elrod, 88, of 198 Will Cook Road, Boone, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at Watauga Medical Center.

She was born May 12, 1918 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Jesse Amos and Vertie Harrison Hampton.

Mrs. Elrod was a retired plant worker from TRW in Boone, and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Martha Eggers and husband, Charles, of Boone; one son, Joseph Elrod and wife, Eileen, of Sparta; one sister, Ivadene Hampton of Boone; two grandsons, Dean Eggers and wife, Robin, of Wytheville, Va. and David Eggers and wife, Susan, of Hickory; and two great-grandsons, Harrison and Elliott Eggers, both of Hickory. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Elrod; and three sisters, Glenda Story, Gladys Brown, and Winifred Hampton.

Burial followed in Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Margaret V. Hampton and Joseph Alfonso Elrod were married on 28 May 1938 in Boone Twp., Watauga Co., NC.44964 Joseph Alfonso Elrod, son of Andrew Jones Elrod and Sarah Jane VanDyke, was born on 14 November 1906 in Watauga Co., NC. Joseph died on 28 January 1963 at the age of 56 in Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Boone, Watauga Co., NC.44965
