Ben Matthews Allison Jr. was born on 24 August 1914 in Lookout Mountain, Hamilton Co., TN. Ben Jr. died on 17 September 2004 at the age of 90 in Rome, Floyd Co., GA and was buried at Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga, Hamilton Co., TN.17383

Ben Matthews Allison, 90, of Rome, GA died Friday, September 17, 2004.

He was born to the late Ben M. Allison and Pansy Sanders Allison on August 24, 1914 on Lookout Mountain, GA. [sic]

He was preceded in death by brother, Joe Allison.

He graduated from McCallie School and was awarded the Grayson Medal, the school's highest honor, which goes to the student who is the most loved and respected as voted on by the upper student body and faculty. It is awarded to the student who is going to be the most missed, remembered for his personality, character, and service. Throughout his life, Ben embodied the Grayson Medal. His optimism, infectious laugh, love of people and his outgoing personality endeared him to all he met. The sunshine, love, and laughter that he spread will be sorely missed. He was a member of the Second Avenue Methodist Church in Rome.

He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Reid Mann Allison, Rome; children, Marie Hall, Ringgold, Pam Lawrence, Marietta, Ed Allison, Nashville, and Sally Bryan, Birmingham; stepchildren, Marsha Greenwell, Kansas City, MO, and Preston Mann, Rome; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sisters and brothers, Corinne Howell, Liza Goree, Mimi McDonald, Peegee Marler, and Sarge Allison.

Memorial services will be announced later.
