Glasgow - Saylor Marshall Coffey, age 77, died June 25, 1987, in a Salem hospital. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Lewis, Fairfax; Mrs. Dolly Snodgrass, Salem; Mrs. Mary Jane Brown, Signal Mountain, Tenn.; three sons, Cecil M. Coffey, Lexington; James E. Coffey, Chesapeake; John M. Coffey, Waynesboro; two brothers, John H. Coffey, North Carolina; James A. Coffey, Natural Bridge; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Stewart Lotts, Lexington; Mrs. Lottie Steed, Front Royal; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grand children. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Lomax Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Penbroke Hall. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. COFFEY, Margaret Riley

Margaret Riley Coffey, 93, of Lexington, died Monday, February 20, 2006 in the Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Mrs. Coffey was born on February 18, 1913 in Rockbridge County and was a daughter of the late John William Riley and Rosa Lily Plogger Riley.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Glasgow and was preceded in death by a son, John Marshall Coffey. Mrs. Coffey is survived by her five children, Dorothy Lewis of Florida, Cecil Coffey of Glasgow, James Coffey of Chesapeake, Dolly Snodgrass of Salem and Mary Jane Brown of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; two sisters, Mildred Floyd and Lonnie Floyd, both of Buena Vista; 14 grandchildren including Debbie Story which Mrs. Coffey raised from infancy; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Michael Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.

Waynesboro - John Marshall Coffey, age 50, formerly of Rockbridge County, died Sunday, October 22, 1989 in Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born Mar. 22, 1939 in Rockbridge County, and was the son of Margaret Riley Coffey of Buena Vista, and the late Saylor Marshall Coffey. Surviving besides his mother are, three sisters, Dorothy Lewis, Lake Helen, Fla.; Dolly Snodgrass, Salem; and Mary Brown, Signal Mountain, Tenn.; two brothers, Cecil M. Coffey, Lexington; James E. Coffey, Chesapeake. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 25, 1989, 2:00 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lee V. Ruckman officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhill [sic] [Green Hill] Cemetery, Buena Vista. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington, VA.
