Presnell, 74, of Gamewell, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at the residence. He was born September 27, 1935 in Caldwell County to the late Clarence H. and Ora Miller Presnell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Haskel Presnell, Roger Presnell and J.D. Presnell; and two sisters, Eula Miller and Geneva Suddreth. Mr. Presnell was retired from the United States Air Force and was of the Baptist faith. He also was a truck driver, race car driver and the First Golden Wrench Award recipient at Tri-County Speedway. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Barbara Coffey Presnell of the home; four sons, Steven D. Presnell, Brian K. Presnell and wife Susan, Mark L. Presnell and wife Amy, and Robert L. Presnell and wife Kathy, all of Lenoir; one daughter, Miss Cynthia L. Presnell of Lenoir; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Honeycutt of Lenoir; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Gyles Widener and the Rev. Renee Easter. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir with military honors. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Kurt Presnell, Scott Presnell, Brian Presnell II, Ronnie Staley, Jeremy Prevatt and Brice Nix.
