Catherine Delores Coffey was born on 25 May 1951 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.⁴⁴¹¹² Catherine died at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson, Caldwell Co., NC on 27 October 2019 and a memorial service was held In Morganton, Burke Co., NC at North Morganton Baptist Church on 30 October 2019.

Catherine Delores Coffey Messer, age 68, of Lenoir, passed away surrounded by family at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care-Hudson on Sunday, October 27, 2019.  She was born May 25, 1951 in Caldwell County to the late Jennings “Jinks” and Ollie Coffey.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy Coffey and Louis Coffey.

Cathy was a devoted wife to her husband of 37 years, Terry Lynn Messer, and was a member of the family of God.  She enjoyed working her puzzle books, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors in addition to her husband include two sons, David Lee Philyaw and wife Tanya of Jacksonville, FL and Christopher Lynn Messer and wife Heather of Hudson; her grandchildren, Baylee Philyaw, Allison Messer, Abigail Messer, Logan Messer and Jaxson Messer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life in Cathy’s honor will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. at North Morganton Baptist Church, 101 View Street, Morganton, NC 28655 conducted by Christopher Messer.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
