Dixie Lee Coffey Fitzgerald, 68, of Tyro, died Friday, December 21, 2007, at the Augusta Medical Center. Born in Coffeytown, April 9, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Arnie and Nannie Elizabeth Fitzgerald Coffey.

Dixie was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and was retired from the U.S. Postal service with over twenty years of employment. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Lester B. Fitzgerald.

She is survived by her brother, Perry Coffey and his wife, Jan, of Roseland; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a host of friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Dale Fitzgerald.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by Pastor Billy Coffey and Pastor Mike Wells. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Dixie Lee Coffey and Lester Berlin Fitzgerald were married on 9 August 1958 in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA.³⁰³²⁴ Lester Berlin Fitzgerald, son of Carrie Green Fitzgerald, was born on 19 March 1940 in Montebello, Nelson Co., VA. Lester died at University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA on 19 September 1987 of an acute and massive pulmonary thrombosis and was buried at Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery in Jonesboro, Nelson Co., VA in September 1987 .^30325,30326
