He retired. John died in Murphy, Cherokee Co., NC on 8 October 1981. His remains were cremated and his ashes scattered in the .31423,31424

John Russell Coffey and Sybil Isabelle Ball were married on 21 November 1941 in Williamson, Mingo Co., WV. Sybil Isabelle Ball, daughter of Luther Claude Ball and Ellen Victoria Pyne, was born on 25 November 1913 in Peterstown, Monroe Co., WV. Sybil died in Princeton, Mercer Co., WV on 25 January 2001 and was buried in Peterstown Cemetery in Giles Co., VA in January 2001 .31425
Sybil Ball Gero 

PRINCETON - Sybil Ball Gero, 88, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002 at Princeton Community Hospital. 

Born Nov. 25, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Luther Claude and Ellen V. Pyne Ball. She was a school teacher for 20 years where she taught at Berwind Elementary and Berwind Junior High School in McDowell County. She was also a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church in Princeton. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Coffey; second husband, Zane Gero; two sisters, Phyllis Bodell and Thelma Smith; and two brothers, Clifford Ball and David Ball. 

She is survived by two sons, John Coffey and wife, Gloria of Princeton, and Mike Coffey and wife, Ann of Falls Mills, Va.; one stepson, Joe Gero and wife, Barbara of Madison; one brother, A.B. 'Jake' Ball of Peterstown; one special friend and neighbor, Diana Billings of Princeton; six grandchildren, J. Russ Coffey, Michael Coffey, Ryan Coffey, J. Ryan Gero, Melissa Coffey, and Jacob Coffey. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Vanover officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery. 

Friends called at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
