GENEVA "NEVA" WEST

Sept. 2, 1923-March 1, 2008 Geneva "Neva" West, age 84, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Ky. She was born September 2, 1923 in McCreary County, Ky., the daughter of the late Henry Milford and Alice Phipps Coffey.

On November 26, 1947 she married Alonzo West, who preceded her in death on February 10, 2002. She is survived by nine children-Melwood West of Burlington, Ky., Rachel Easter, Wiladeen Hill, James, Daniel, Milford, Richard, Darrell and Jerry West, all of Monticello, Ky.

She is also survived by three sisters-Emma Dolen, Irene Hoover and Nellie Coffey; and 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters-Sally Roberts, Tennie Worley, Effie Taffley; and one brother-George Coffey. She had accepted Christ as her Savior as a young lady and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at New Salem Baptist Church with Bro. David Frost, Bro. Donald Ray Hutchison and Bro. Grey Haynes officiating. Burial was in the New Salem Cemetery. Hoyt G. Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Geneva "Neva" Coffey and Alonzo West were married on 26 November 1947. Alonzo West, son of George W. West and Rachel Isabelle Phillips, was born on 12 December 1911 in Scott Co., TN. Alonzo died at Wayne Co. Hospital in Wayne Co., KY on 10 February 2002 and was buried at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello, Wayne Co., KY in February 2002 .41527
