Daniel Coffey, age 76 years and 22 days, of Strunk, Kentucky passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 23, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Stewart Jones, Bro. George Coffey, and Bro. Delmas Watson officiating. Burial was in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery.

He was born March 29, 1936 in White Oak Junction, Kentucky to John Herbert Coffey and Lillie Dobbs Coffey. Daniel was a member of the Cherokee United Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a mechanical electrician before his retirement, having worked for the Stearns Coal and Lumber Company and Justus Mines. During his spare time he enjoyed gardening and hunting ginseng. He also loved to spend time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Lloyd William Coffey and Dallas Coffey, sisters, Wanda Burke and Elsie Gregory, and a niece, Melissa Coffey.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Wanda Leigh Roberts Coffey of Strunk, Kentucky, his children, Daniel Coffey, Jr., Deborah Karen Ross and her husband, Lonnie, Ricky Joe Coffey, Nelson Anthony Coffey, Steve Coffey and his wife, Rose Mary, and Kevin Wayne Coffey, all of Strunk, Kentucky, brothers, Kenneth Coffey and his wife, Mable, of Strunk, Kentucky, Kelly Coffey and his wife, Janet, of Muncie, Indiana, and Bobby Coffey and his wife, Janice, of Stearns, Kentucky, sisters, Lois Koger and her husband, Wendell, of Muncie, Indiana and Doris Coffey of Smithtown, Kentucky, brothers-in-law, Willis Burke of Lafayette, Indiana and Dester Gregory of Bronston, Kentucky, grandchildren, Lonzo Brian Ross, Brad Daniel Ross and his wife, Emily, Stephanie Michelle Worley and her husband, Ryan, Leigha Marie Sumner and her husband, Dennis, Tyler Dewayne Coffey and his wife, Tiffany, and Kristi Lee Coffey, and great grandchildren, Megan Sumner, Lonzo Vincent Ross, Mason Daniel Ross, Lillie Marie Sumner, Hunter Daniel Bradley Coffey, Kinzlee Temperance Coffey, and Lukas Reid Sumner.

A living couple was married circa 1957. Living (private).

Nelson Anthony Coffey was born on 17 November 1962 in Oneida, Scott Co., TN. Nelson died at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN on 13 September 2012 and was buried at Sherd Dobbs Cemetery in Whitley City, McCreary Co., KY on 16 September 2012 .47642

Nelson Anthony Coffey age 49 years, 9 months, and 26 days, of Strunk, Kentucky passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012 at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. George Allen Coffey, Bro. Delmus Watson, Bro. Wayne Inman, and Bro. Stewart Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery.

He was born November 17, 1962 at Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee to Daniel and Wanda Leigh (Roberts) Coffey. Nelson professed his salvation and love of God to Bro. Wayne Inman and his Mother. He was a computer whiz at which he earned his living, working for several large Corporations. He also enjoyed collecting and preserving vintage cars.

Preceding him in death is his father Daniel Coffey, grandparents Herbert & Lillie Coffey and Ed & Osha Roberts, uncles Boyce Dean Roberts, Charlie Tucker, and Earnest Koger, aunts Wanda Burke, Elsie Gregory, Lois Koger and Wilma Jean Dobbs, and special cousins Melissa Coffey, Gary Tucker, Terry Coffey and Bill Dobbs.

Survivors include his mother Wanda Leigh Coffey; brothers Daniel Coffey Jr., Ricky Coffey, Steve Coffey & wife, Rose Mary, and Kevin Coffey; a sister Deborah (Coffey) Ross & husband, Lonnie, all of Strunk, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts; and a best friend Cleveland Shinn.

All who knew and loved Nelson will miss him, but he has left a lot of wonderful memories each of us can cherish.
