ROSELAND-Mrs. Rose Ella Fitzgerald, 84, a resident of the Beech Grove Community, died early yesterday at a Lynchburg nursing home. She was the widow of N. D. Fitzgerald and a member of Beech Grove Christian Church.

Mrs. Fitzgerald was a daughter of the late Floyd Coffey and Mary Weaver Coffey. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Effie Hicks, Boomer W. Va.; four sons, Hoy Fitzgerald and Tucker F. Fitzgerald, Lynchburg; Raymond F. Fitzgerald, Roseland, and Tommy W. Fitzgerald, Roseland. Also surviving is one stepdaughter, Mrs. Cora Taylor, Covesville; four sisters, Mrs. Stewart Gregory, Waynesboro; Mrs. Mint Campbell, Stuarts Draft; Mrs. Martha Arnold and Mrs. Etta Everitt, Love; one brother, Zandy Coffey, Love; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow from Beech Grove Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. J. D. Farries and the Rev. J. T. Watson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will assemble at her late home at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow. Active pallbearers will be Dewey Fitzgerald, Owen Fitzgerald, Shelby Fitzgerald, Lowney Fitzgerald, Clyde Fitzgerald, William Fitzgerald and Cliney Fitzgerald.

There is a Rose Ella Coffey buried at the Beech Grove Cemetery, Nelson Co., VA. This cemetery is located on Cub Creek Road, (Rt. 860) just off Rt. 664. Her headstone reads "Wife of N.D. Fitzgerald" and gives birthdate of Feb. 16, 1877, and death date as Feb. 17, 1960.

Could she have been another wife of N. D. Fitzgerald who married M. Elizabeth Coffey? Rose Ella and M. Elizabeth were first cousins.

LYNCHBURG-A funeral service for Hoy Woodson Fitzgerald, 66, of 2113 Hanover St., was held Friday afternoon in Whitten Park Ave. Chapel Funeral Home, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. John L. Suttonfield.

Interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Fitzgerald died last Tuesday at his home after being in poor health for several years with a heart condition.

Born April 14, 1907, in Beech Grove, he was a son of the late Napolean D. and Mrs. Ella Coffey Fitzgerald.

He was retired from the Petty john Brothers Shoe Manufacturing Co., Inc., and was a member of the Fairview Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church there.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Smith Fitzgerald, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Lee (Doris) Nickerson of Lynchburg; three brothers, Tucker Fitzgerald of Lynchburg, Raymond R. Fitzgerald and Thomas W. Fitzgerald, both of Beech Grove; one sister, Mrs. Clyde (Effie) Hicks of Boomer, W. Va.; one half-sister, Mrs. Cora F. Taylor, of North Garden; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BEECH GROVE-Tommy W. Fitzgerald, 65, died yesterday at his home.
He was born in Nelson County on May 11, 1917, a son of the late Napoleon D. Fitzgerald and Rose Ella Coffey Fitzgerald.

He was a member of Beech Grove Christian Church and a retired merchant and antique dealer.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth G. Truslow Fitzgerald; three sons, Roger Fitzgerald, Donald Fitzgerald and Toby Fitzgerald, all of Beech Grove; two brothers, Tucker Fitzgerald of Lynchburg and Raymond Fitzgerald of Beech Grove; one sister, Mrs. Effie Hicks of Nitro, W. Va.; a sister-in-law, Lillie Fitzgerald of Lynchburg and Cora Taylor of Alexandria; and three grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Beech Grove Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. J. D. Farries and Kaye Edwards, with interment in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Harris, Shelton Stevens, Russell Bayne, Luther McGann Jr., Roger Coffey, Forest Bryant Jr., Uel Gardner and Guy Williams Towler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mervin Diehl, Norman Eppard, Worthy Thompson, Wayne Fitzgerald, Warren Fitzgerald, Ed Garfield, Ed Bragen, Les Graves, Bill Wiggins and Richard Meeks.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Preston Parr Funeral Home in Roseland.


Additional honorary pallbearers will be Basil Campbell and George Micklos.
