STAUNTON-Mrs. Bessie Fitzgerald Campbell, Route 2, Staunton, widow of George E. Campbell, died yesterday morning in King's Daughters' Hospital.

A native of Nelson County, she was born Aug. 2, 1893, a daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Ann Coffey Fitzgerald. She was a member of the Sherando Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Daisy Demastus, Stuarts Draft, and Mrs. Mary Snead, Route 2, five sons, Wilson Campbell and Ray Campbell, Staunton, Eldren Campbell and Raymond Campbell, Stuarts Draft, and Ralph Campbell, Lyndhurst, three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Taylor, Montebello, Mrs. Alice Coffey and Mrs. Tressie Coffey, both of Waynesboro, also 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the Sherando Christian Church conducted by the Rev. R. D. Allen and the Rev. S. C. Bateman. Burial will be in White Rock Cemetery in Nelson County.

Pallbearers will be Lacy Helmick, French Quick, Herman Painter, James Demastus, Salem Fitzgerald, and Billy Fitzgerald.

Flowerbearers will be Pauline Demastus, Florence Painter, Margie Doyle, and Dreama Blackwell.

The body is at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Carey Snead, Brookwood, Rd.

George died on 8 February 1941 at the age of 50 in Nelson Co., VA and was buried at White Rock Cemetery near Montebello, Nelson Co., VA.14749

STUARTS DRAFT-Raymond Edward Campbell, 43, died suddenly at 11:15 p.m. yesterday at his home on Route 2, Stuarts Draft.

He was born on June 18, 1920, at Montebello and was a son of the late George and Bessie Fitzgerald Campbell.

Mr. Campbell was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Stuarts Draft. A veteran of World War II, he served in Company G. of the 12th Infantry, where he was in the campaign of northern France. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9339.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Virginia Lowery Campbell; one son, Kenneth William Campbell, 12 years; four brothers, Wilson Campbell and Eldon Campbell, both of Stuarts Draft, Ralph Campbell of Lyndhurst, Ray Jay Campbell of Staunton; and two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Demastus of Stuarts Draft and Mrs. Mary Snead of Staunton.

The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until Monday morning. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Baptist Chruch in Stuarts Draft, conducted by the Rev. Richard Dooley. Interment will be in the cemetery at Sherando Methodist Church.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas Fitzgerald, Ward Lee Cohron, Ervin Boyd, Reed Forbes, David Moran and Lyle A. Chandler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Homer Henkel, Edward Moran, Erskine Foley, Roger Fitzgerald, Raymond A. Campbell and Carl East.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tomorrow from 7 to 8 p.m.

Eldon Newton Campbell, 80, of 771 Howardsville Turnpike, Stuarts Draft, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday (January 12, 2005) in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.

He was born April 16, 1924 in Nelson County, a son of the late George and Bessie (Fitzgerald) Campbell.

Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in WW II. He was owner of Campbells Septic Tank Service.

He was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church, previously Grace Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.

Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby E. Campbell, who died 10/1/73, a son, Donald B. Campbell; five brothers, Ralph, Wilson, Raymond, Donald, and Hall Campbell; a sister, Mary "Tootie" Snead; and two great grandchildren, Jason and Chelsea Wickline.

He shared his life in Montebello many years with his special companion, Mrs. Vera Falls. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Wayne and Sandra L. Campbell of Stuarts Draft; and their children, Donna Faye, Heather Marie, and Derek Wayne Campbell, and a deceased daughter, Ashley Dawn Campbell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda M. Kane and her fiance, David Furry, of Clifton Forge; and her children, Lisa Marie Wickline and her husband, Chester, Roger Lee Corbin Jr. and his wife, Melody, and Christopher Gail Corbin and his wife, Sally; Brenda K. and her husband, Bill Howdyshell of Greenville; and her son, Benjamin A. Davis; a brother, Ray J. Campbell of Staunton; a sister, Daisy C. Demastas, of Stuarts Draft; eight great-grandchildren, Megan, Cody, Ryan, Kayla, and Logan Corbin, Aaron, Travis, and Adam Wickline; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his children, family members include Vera's children, Darlene Fitzgerald and her husband, Glen; and their children, Audrey F. Adams and her son, Wyatt, and Patricia F. Thacker and her husband, Tony, and their children, Brandon and Jacob; Janice Bryant and her friend, Pat Cash; and her children, Donald F. Bryant and his wife, Jayne, and their children, Christopher and Whitney, Charles "Chucky" L. Bryant and his wife, Lisa, and Beverley Alexander and her husband, Rick; Sandra L. Campbell and her husband, Lewis and Lisa Grant and her friend, Larry M. Davis; and her daughter, Crystal Grant.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday (January 17, 2005) in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Billy Coffey and Don Cash. Burial will follow in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dale Allen, Don Taylor, Butch Allen, Preston Eichelberger, Sonny Taylor and William Coffey.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.

NELSON COUNTY — Ray Campbell Sr., 80, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013.

He was the son of the late George and Betsy Fitzgerald Campbell. He was preceded in death by eight siblings, Donald, Hall, Daisy, Wilson, Raymond, Eldon, Ralph and Mary "Tootie."

He is survived by three sons and one daughter, Ray "Tinker" Campbell Jr. and wife, Paula, Franklin "Buck" Campbell and wife, Denise, Kenneth Campbell and wife, Dwan and Leslie Raines; two stepsons, Donnie Ward and wife, Dee, Sheldon Ward and wife, Melanie; ten grandchildren, Timothy Campbell, Desiree, Matthew and Maxine Welcher, Lamaya and Takaila Campbell, Kaulie Miller, Holly and Ray Varner and Alexandra Rowland; 12 step grandchildren, Matthew, Paul, Donnie II, Gloria, Jennifer, Kayla, Destiny, Lysa, Katie, Nicole, Matthew and Joshua; seven great-grandchildren, Kadynce Campbell, Starlet, Sierra, Charity and Tierell Varner, Marley-Ann and Ryan Rowland; six step great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special friend, Pauline Ward.

A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Reality Church on Broad Street in Waynesboro.
