DEAN, LONGTIME VOLUNTEER, DIES

A community volunteer, Lucile Coffey Dean, died Wednesday at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was 92.

Mrs. Dean was a 1923 graduate of Knoxville High School and 1927 graduate of the University of Tennessee.

A member of First Baptist Church since 1929, she was a volunteer at East Tennessee Children's gift shop for more than 10 years. She was a charter member of the Talahi Garden Club and shared her gardening talents with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Carlisle Dean, former president of Knoxville Fertilizer Co. and Dean Planters Tobacco Warehouse.

Her late father, Dr. E.M. Coffey, and brother, Dr. Leland Coffey, were Knoxville dentists.

She is survived by her son, John H. Dean, and daughter, Jaynee Dean of Knoxville; grandchildren, Michelle Dean, ''Boo'' Dean, Meridith Dean, Jack Adkisson, Jerry Brown and Jill Adkisson. Nieces and nephews are Jim Coffey, Tom Coffey, Scott Dean and Anne Dean McWhirter.

A graveside service is set for 10 a.m. today at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Lucille Elizabeth Coffey and John Carlisle Dean were married. They appeared in the census on 2 April 1930 in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN.32188 They32188 appeared in the census on 6 April 1940 in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN.32189 John Carlisle Dean, son of John Henry Dean and Dovie Robertson, was born on 27 April 1904 in Alabama. John died in Sarasota, Sarasota Co., FL on 28 July 1974 and was buried at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN in July 1974 .32190,32191
