Gordon Lockridge Everitt, 83, died Sunday at 10 p.m. at his home in Love. Prior to his retirement, he served for 26 years as postmaster at Love.

He was a member and elder of Mountain Top Christian Church and had served as superintendent of the Sunday School for 40 years. He was born May 20, 1878, in Love, a son of the late Elias and Martha Demastus Everitt.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Allen Everitt; one brother, Henry M. Everitt; one sister, Mrs. Zandy Coffey, all of Love; also, a number of nieces and nephews.

The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until one hour prior to the service, when it will be placed in the Mountain Top Christian Church. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Pettit Coffey, assisted by the Rev. Edward Mayberry, with interment in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jake Hewitt, Callie Coffey, Ralph Hewitt, Hugh Coffey, Elwood Fitzgerald and Ira Coffey.

They appeared in the census on 11 April 1940 in Massies Mill, Nelson Co, VA.13293 Pearl Allen, daughter of Arthur Clifford Allen and Rosa Hamlet, was born on 10 May 1893 in Virginia. Pearl died at home in Nelson Co., VA on 13 February 1986 of cardiac arrest and was buried at Mountain Top Christian Church Cemetery in Love, Nelson Co, VA in February 1986 .13294,13295
