Ralph C. Coffey, 87, of 948 S. Delphine Ave., died Tuesday morning (June 26, 2001) at Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville.

He was born Jan. 31, 1914, in Nelson County, son of the late Adolphus and Iola Hatter Coffey. Mr. Coffey was a member of the Blue Ridge Church of Christ where he was an honorary elder and had been a former member of First Christian Church for 57 years where he served as elder, deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher.

He was retired from Augusta Cleaners, where he was a route driver. He was a disabled veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie F. Coffey, in 1983; five brothers; and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Louise Coffey Coffey; one son, Dennie Coffey and his wife, Bonnie, of Richmond; two stepsons, Charles L. Coffey and his wife, Nancy, of Waynesboro, and Donald R. Coffey of Waynesboro; one daughter, Marvine C. Leitch and her husband, Ronald, of Richmond; one stepdaughter, Sherry Bowman and her husband, Lee, of Waynesboro; three sisters, Lillian Proffitt, Rubye Mason and Gertrude Coffey; all of Alexandria; six grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; Four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Waynesboro chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service by Pastor Todd Brown with burial following at Riverview Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Stuarts Draft Veterans of Foreign War Post 9339. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Leitch, David Soudjian, Sonny Burton, Eric Yates, Lee Bowman and David Wood. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilson Coffey, Frannie Thompson, Lee Coffey and Jeff Woodie. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro.

Ralph Columbus Coffey and Carrie Dennis Fitzgerald were married on 19 November 1938 in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA.29646 Carrie Dennis Fitzgerald, daughter of Marmaduke Jackson Fitzgerald and Bertha Grace Bradley, was born on 25 August 1918 in Virginia. Carrie died in Virginia on 1 April 1983 and was buried at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA in April 1983 .29647

 — Helen "Louise" Coffey, 86 died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fishersville.

She was born June 18, 1926, in Vesuvius, the only child of the late Robley D. and Lula Fix Allen.

Louise was a life-long member of the Christian/Church of Christ churches, playing the piano at church for many years and was currently a member of the Blue Ridge Church of Christ. She had retired from GE/Genicom with 25 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver.

Also preceding her in death were her husbands, Charles "Buddy" Coffey and Ralph Coffey and her daughter, Sherry Bowman.

She is survived by her sons, Lee Coffey and wife, Nancy, and Don Coffey and special friend, Terry, all of Waynesboro; 8 granddaughters and 5 grandsons-in-law, Renee and Eric Yartes, Kristi and Chris Peery, Alison and Pat Perkins, Amy and Sam Lessley, Erin and John Hicks, Stacey Nuckols, Stephanie Coffey and Brittany Coffey and 9 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at noon, Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the Blue Ridge Church of Christ conducted by Pastor Todd Brown. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons-in-law, David Driver and Jeff Woody. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McDow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Church of Christ, 1275 Goosecreek Rd., Waynesboro, VA 22980.
