MOUNT ZION -Milton Staley Lowe, 65, of Mount Zion died 6 a.m. Thursday (May 21, 1992) in his home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mount Zion, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Mr. Lowe was born in Niantic on April 21, 1927, the son of George and Pearl Coffee Lowe. He was retired from ADM and was a member of Lakeview Church of God. He married Betty Jean Orr on Dec. 18, 1948.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. David (Robin) Lafferty of Loveland, Colo.; sons, Bill Lowe, and Albert Lowe and his wife Lori, all of Decatur; brothers, Stan, Wilbur, Gary and Steve, all of Decatur; Don, Larry and Danny, all of Harristown; sisters, Betty Meador of Harristown; Melba Nash of Decatur; four grandchildren.

His parents, two brothers, George and Melvin, and a sister, Iona Bailey, preceded him in death.

Milton Staley Lowe and Betty Jean Orr were married on 18 December 1948. Betty Jean Orr was born on 9 April 1925 in Dalton City, Moultrie Co., IL. Betty died in Mount Zion, Macon Co., IL on 4 December 2003 and was buried at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur, Macon Co., IL on 8 December 2003 .47676,47677

MOUNT ZION - Betty Jean Lowe, 78, of Mt. Zion died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday December 4, 2003 in her residence.

Funeral Services will be at 10 A.M. Monday, December 8, 2003 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home Mt. Zion, IL. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mrs. Lowe was born April 9, 1925 in Dalton City, IL., the daughter of Arthur and Nina Edith Reese Orr. She married Milton S. Lowe on December 18, 1948. He preceded her in death in May of 1992. She was a former member of Lakeview Church of God, a Cub Scout Den Mother, Pack 243, Den 9. She enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

Surviving are her Sons: Albert Lowe and his wife Lori of Decatur, Bill Lowe and his wife Kathy of Decatur, Daughter: Robin Lafferty of Mt. Zion, Brother: James Orr of Mt. Zion, Sisters: Margie White of Utica, New York, and Winona Creek of Decatur, Grandchildren: James Lowe and wife Kristen of Decatur, Sgt. Andrew Lowe stationed with U.S. Army in Monterey, CA., Katie Lowe of Decatur Jamie Lowe of Decatur, Ryan Lafferty of Loveland, CO., Teri Zehnacker of Groton, Conn. Great Granddaughter Makinlee Marie Lowe. Brother-in-laws: Stan Lowe and his wife Ferrel of Decatur, Don Lowe and his wife Sandy of Harristown, Steve Lowe and his wife Sherry of Decatur, Danny Lowe and his wife Sheryl of Harristown, and Robert Nash of Decatur. Sister-in-laws Betty Meador and husband Lyle of Harristown, June Orr of Decatur, Grace Orr of Lake Elisnore, California and Sharon Lowe of Decatur. Special friend Paula Spitzer of Mt. Zion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, three sisters and one great grandson Jeremy Alan Tomlin Jr.
