Codecy Coffey Whitehead, 95, of Lowesville, died March 19 at the Medical Care Center in Lynchburg. Born in Nelson County, May 3, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Robert Coffey and Molly Wood Coffey. Codecy enjoyed sewing, was a member of Central Baptist Church and was very active with the WMU.

She is survived by three daughters, Deanna Ponton of Roseland, Joyce Kirby of Wilson, N.C. and Patsy White of Apopka, Fla.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everett "Pete" Whitehead; four brothers; and three sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at the Medical Care Center, especially Dorothy.

A funeral service was held March 21 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by the Rev. Eugene Beverly, with one hour viewing and visitation prior to the service. Burial followed in Jonesboro Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Roseland Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 39, Roseland, VA 22967.

Everett died in Lynchburg, Independent City, VA on 12 January 1988 and was buried at In January 1988.28628,28629
