TERRE HAUTE — Roxie Gammon, 78, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord at 2:48 p.m. Dec. 28, 2010, with her family surrounding her. She was born Feb. 17, 1932, in Terre Haute, to John M. Coffey and Alta Coffey, she was raised by Alta and Harry McCullough. 

Survivors include one son, Ronald Gammon and wife Marilyn; two daughters, Brenda McQueen and husband the Rev. Allen McQueen, and Susan Redding and husband Rick; one sister, Barbara Borders; nine grandchildren, Tracy McQueen of Indianapolis, Matthan McQueen and wife Greta of Louisville, Ky., Michelle McMillen and husband David of Farmersburg, Bradley Gammon of Terre Haute, Jaclyn Hickman and husband Ross of Terre Haute, Stephanie Evitts and husband Trent of Terre Haute, Vanessa Redding of Indianapolis, Justin Redding of Jacksonville, Fla., and Deidre Culley and husband Joseph of Terre Haute; 11 great-grandchildren; special friends, Ernest and Fiona Boner; and several nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene R. Gammon; her parents, John M. Coffey, Alta and Harry McCullough; brother, Donald Eugene Coffey; and sister, Laura Carpenter.

She married Eugene on Dec. 31, 1949, and will be joining him in celebration of their 61st wedding anniversary. She was a member of Prairie Park Southern Baptist Church. She loved to crochet and her favorite pet "FiFi."

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, with visitation from 12 until 4 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m. until service time on Monday. The Revs. Allen McQueen and Matt McQueen will be officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
