Raymond COFFEE was born at Miami, Texas on the 29th day of September 1901. Was converted and joined the Baptist church at Miami on his 15th year.

Got the appointment to the Annapolis Academy, through Congressman Marvin JONES, in the early spring of 1919, and on his way to Lubbock to take the examination, changed his mind and enlisted in the Army of Occupation for over sea service, was in Europe in 90 days from enlistment, served as a musician, in the U. Was in Venice, Italy, also was in Rome, with 2 other American soldiers had the distinction of getting and audience with the Pope of Rome.

Absorbed a wonderful amount of information from association, and studying customs of foreign people, he received an honorable discharge from the Army on expiration of three years, on the 19th day of April 1922, at Camp Dix, New Jersey, met his death in an automobile accident near Canyon City, Texas, enroute to take possession of a small place that had been awarded him as an ex-service man.

His intentions were to prove up the place and turn it into cash and attend some college until he finished college education. Unlike many of the boys that went across, he never acquired any bad habits, did not smoke, drink, gamble or swear.
