8064. Buell E. Coffey was born on 18 June 1920 in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY. Buell died in Shelbyville, Shelby Co., IN on 24 December 1998 and was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Shelby Co., IN on 27 December 1998 .25341

Buell E. Coffey, 78, Shelbyville, died Thursday at Heritage House.

Born in Russell Springs, Ky., on June 18, 1920, he was the son of Elbert and Ella Rae (Aaron) Coffey.

He was a co-founder of Coffey Brothers Excavating in 1949 and retired in 1983. He was a member of Shelbyville Baptist Temple and a church deacon for more than 40 years.

In 1940, he married Bernice (Whittle) Coffey, and she died on Sept. 5, 1985. He married Joan G. (Graham) Coffey on Feb. 7, 1986, and she survives.

Other survivors are a son, Gordon Coffey, Shelbyville; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Gayla) Hopper, Shelbyville; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Gentry, Russell Springs, Ky., and Edith Mohr, Shelbyville; a brother, Walton Coffey, New Albany, and a stepson, Tony Davis, Shelbyville; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Shelbyville Baptist Temple with the Rev. Ed Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home and 30 minutes before Monday's service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County.

Buell E. Coffey and Bernice Whittle were married in 1940. Bernice Whittle was born on 17 January 1921 in Kentucky. Bernice died in Indiana on 25 September 1985 and was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Shelby Co., IN in September 1985 .25342
