He appeared in the census on 13 June 1900 in Browns Creek, McDowell Co., WV.19390 Hambone lived with his parents in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC on 11 May 1910. He registered for the WWI draft on 12 September 1918 in Beckley, Raleigh Co., WV.19391 Leonard died of cardiac arrest on 11 August 1960 at the age of 84 at Blowing Rock Hospital in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Boone Fork Community Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC on 13 August 1960.19392,19393,19394

This is probably the Leonard Coffey, age 24 and born in NC, found in the 1900 Browns Creek Twp., McDowell Co., WV. He was in a coal mine partnership with Frank Denny or Donny [?], age 17.

Leonard has not been found in the 1920 or the 1930 census.

Leonard Bealer "Hambone" Coffey and Eliza Alice "Alice" Townsend were married on 12 April 1947 in Dickinson Co., VA.19395 Eliza Alice "Alice" Townsend, daughter of Henry Franklin Townsend and Harriet Emaline Townsend, was born on 24 February 1886 in North Carolina. She appeared in the census on 16 April 1930 in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC.18665 Eliza died of a myocardial infarction on 16 July 1969 at the age of 83 at Blowing Rock Hospital in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Boone Fork Community Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC.18666,18667,18668

This is probably the Eliza Townsend, born 1886, in the household with her parents, Henry and Emaline in the 1900 Watauga Co. census.

Alice was never married to Henry Edward Coffey, but she did have several children by him after Willard died.
