Emmett Hamilton (Bill) Coffey Jr., 85, of Salem, Va., passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rhoda Ann Coffey; his parents, Emmett Sr. and Katie Coffey; his brother, E. Randolph Coffey; his son, Bill Coffey; and his grandson, Jason Coffey.

Surviving family are his son, David and Sharon Coffey, of Roanoke County; daughters and husbands, Martha and Mark Petri, of Roanoke, and Emily and Jack Pendleton, of Salem; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Private services will be held.

Many thanks to the Virginia Veterans Care Center for their kind and compassionate care of Emmett and all veterans. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem, 540-389-9208.

Emmett Hamilton "Bill" Coffey Jr. and Rhoda Ann Brooks were married. Rhoda Ann Brooks, daughter of Terry H. Brooks and Catherine A. , was born on 13 April 1927 in Virginia. Rhoda lived with her parents in the Salem District, Roanoke, VA on 25 April 1930. Rhoda lived with her parents in Jefferson ward in Roanoke, VA on 13 May 1940. Rhoda died in Salem, VA on 18 November 2004 and was buried at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Lowry, Bedford Co., VA in November 2004 .42863,42864

Rhoda Ann Coffey, 77, of Salem, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Catherine Brooks; her brother, Rodney Brooks; her son, Bill Coffey; and her grandson, Jason Coffey.

Surviving family are her husband, E.H. Coffey, Jr. of Salem; sister, Jean Mann of Roanoke; brother and wife, James and Martha Brooks of Los Angeles, Calif.; son and wife, David and Sharon Coffey of Roanoke; daughters and husbands, Martha and Mark Petri of Roanoke, Emily and Jack Pendleton of Salem. There are eight surviving grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held to celebrate her life. Many thanks to all who have supported her in her courageous battle with cancer.
