Fort Worth's 'Golf Father' Dies At 70

Fort Worth, Texas (AP). -- Dr. Alden Coffey, 70, a practicing physician for fifty years and "father of Fort Worth golf," died Wednesday at his Singin' Holl Ranch on the Weatherford Highway.

Dr. Coffey was an active golfer until a heart attach in 1940 curtailed his playing.

He and Marvin Leonard were instrumental in bringing the National Open Golf Tournament to Fort Worth in 1941, and Dr. Coffey often was called the father of Fort Worth golf.

Maud P. was born on 20 February 1886. Maud died in Texas on 4 November 1973 and was buried at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., TX in November 1973 .40283
