An article in the Sangamo Journal / Illinois State Journal of 29 March 1851 refers to him as Rev. Nathan J. Coffey, the pastor who celebrated the rites of matrimony for Robert Conover, Esq., and Miss Sarah Ann Osborn on 25 March. This Conover couple are not known to be related to the Coffey family.

Key, Mrs. Lavinia--of 500 Forrest avenue, died at 7:25 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 1936, at St. John's hospital, age 84 years. Survived by one son, I.(?) J. Key, city; sister, Mrs. Lee Young, Colorado; brother, Nathan Coffey, Florida; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Remains to Ellinger & Kunz funeral home, where funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Rev. R. S. Kieser officiating. Interment in Maple Grove cemetery at Sweetwater.
