Lenoir, NC- Mr. Spencer Roy Coffey, Sr. age 81 of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center after a lingering illness. Born November 15, 1934, he was a son of the late Epsey Coffey and William Sumpter, Sr.

Mr. Coffey is survived by his wife Linda Jones Coffey, three sons, Steve Coffey and wife Nellie; Roy Coffey and wife Diane; Mike Coffey; three daughters, Lorraine Brewer and husband Donald; Carolyn Coffey and husband Tim; Susan Philyaw and husband Charles; 15 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He is also survived by two half-brothers, William Sumpter, Jr., Robert Sumpter; one step-sister, Tristine Beshears and several cousins and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with a memorial service to follow.

Spencer Roy Coffey and Evelyn Lorena Bolick were married on 3 April 1954 in Caldwell Co., NC.46066 Evelyn Lorena Bolick, daughter of Monroe Milas Bolick and Hester Ada Phillips, was born on 20 April 1935 in Caldwell Co., NC. Evelyn died at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 21 April 2020 and burial details are not yet known.46067

Evelyn Lorena Bolick Coffey, age 85, of Lenoir, moved to her Heavenly Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care – Robbins Center.

She was born April 20, 1935 in Caldwell County to the late Monroe and Hester Phillips Bolick.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters.

Survivors include her six children, Lorraine Brewer and husband Donald, Steve Coffey and fiance Billie Jo Lister, Carolyn Coffey and husband Tim, Roy Coffey and wife Dianne, Mike Coffey and partner Ann Rhymer, and Susan Philyaw; one sister, Pansy Coffey; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was the most wonderful mother who devoted her entire life to her children, they couldn’t have asked for more. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren teaching them many things such as, birdwatching, gardening, exploring outdoors and more. When weather forced her inside, she enjoyed reading, journaling, puzzles, and working on genealogy. She also enjoyed talking to her sister Pansy on a daily basis.

She was a devoted Christian and a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church since 1960, where she made sure her children grew up in church. She made many friends through the years while working in the fabric department at Roses, Crest, and Walmart. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed making gifts for those she loved.

Due to Covid-19 there will be no services held at this time. The family invites you to join them in a Celebration of Evelyn’s life to be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Poarch. A date will be set once restrictions are lifted.
