Alpha Ernest Coffey

Alpha Ernest Coffey, age 60, of 3300 Saline Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan, died suddenly Friday morning, September 12th at the University Hospital.

Born October 22, 1919 in New Castle, Indiana, he was the son of Lesby Antle Coffey and the late Ezra Coffey of Russell County.

Mr. Coffey had been employed by Edwards Brothers, Incorporated for over 30 years. He served in the Army during World War II, in the European Theater. He married Lizzie N. Bradshaw on July 1, 1943.

Survivors include his wife Lizzie; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Janice: Easterday, Mrs. David (Joyce) Sluder, both of Sturgis, and Mrs. Lonny (Judy) Tomlin of Pinckney, Michigan; a granddaughter and grandson, Kerry and Eric Easterday; his mother, Mrs. Lesby Antle Coffey; two brothers and sisters, Hollis Coffey, Columbia, Kentucky, Noel Coffey, Valley Station, Mary Bledsoe, Louisville, and Pearlie Garner, Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Meuhlig Chapel with the Reverend Erwin Ruhlig, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Sturgis, Michigan, officiating. Burial was in Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

A living couple was married in 1943. Living (private).
