Carson William Coffey, 82, of Thorn Hill, died Sunday, October 24, 1993 at Laurl Manor Nursing Home. He was born June 26, 1911 to the late James and Emily ( Edrod ) Coffey; was the widower of Ada Johnson Coffey and the brother of the late Johnny Coffey,Laura Coffey and Viola Carpenter. He professed faith in Christ at early age and was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Hancock County and was a truck [sic] for many years. Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Leonard and Kathy Coffey all of Thorn Hill; step-grand-daughter, Leigh Shipley of New Tazewell; brother Jame Coffey of Fall Branch;several brothers and sisters in laws and nieces and nephews. Service were 2 p.m. at the Coffey Funeral in Tazewell with Rev. Henry Shelton officiating. Burial was in the Johnson Cemetery In Hancock County.

Carson William was born after James died, and is said to have been the son of a Mr. Antrican.

Carson William Coffey and Ada J. Johnson were married on 31 January 1935 in Claiborne Co., TN.9172,39126 Ada J. Johnson, daughter of George L. Johnson and Alpha Shockley, was born on 5 December 1914 in Tennessee. Ada died at University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN on 19 May 1990 and was buried at Johnson Cemetery in Sneedville, Hancock Co., TN in May 1990 .39127,39128

Ada Johnson Coffey, age 75 of Thorn Hill, TN., Passed away May 19, 1990 at UT Hospital in Knoxville, TN. She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.She is survived by her husband, Carson Coffey; son, Leonard Coffey; grandson Jason Coffey all of Thorn Hill, TN. Stepgranddaughter, Leigh Ann Shipley of Tazewell ,TN. Sisters: Oma Coffey of Russellville, TN., Edith Brogan of Whiteburg, TN., Pauline Brogan of Carlise, OH., Barbara Cook of Russellville, TN., brothers, Lon B. Johnson of Thorn Hill, TN. Lenn Johnson of Sneedville, TN. Funeral services were held at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Reed and Rev. Darrell Hensley officiating. Singers were the Reed Family.
