She lived with her daughter, Myra Crumpler in Washington Co., TX on 17 June 1870.⁸³⁹ America died in Brenham, Washington Co., TX on 4 October 1872 and was buried at Brenham Masonic Cemetery in Brenham, Washington Co., TX in October 1872 .⁸⁴⁰

America Coffey and Samuel "Sam" Lusk were married on 21 March 1822 in Warren Co., TN. They appeared in the census on 4 November 1850 in Washington Co., TX.⁸⁴¹ They^⁸⁴¹ appeared in the census on 4 June 1860 in Washington Co., TX.⁸⁴² Samuel "Sam" Lusk⁸⁴³ was born on 15 October 1800 in Buncombe Co., NC. He appeared in the census on 1 June 1830 in Warren Co., TN.⁸⁴⁴ Samuel died in Brenham, Washington Co., TX on 1 December 1867 and was buried at Masonic Cemetery in Brenham, Washington Co., TX in December 1867 .⁸⁴⁵

Lusk, Samuel (1800-1861).

Samuel Lusk, soldier and politician, was born on December 15 , 1800, in Buncombe Co., North Carolina. He was raised and educated in Tennessee. He married America Coffee, the sister of Gen. John Holland and Thomas Coffee, in 1823 and moved to Alabama. Lusk immigrated to Texas about 1835 and settled near Washington-on-the-Brazos. In 1836 he joined Sam Houston's forces but did not participate at the battle of San Jacinto because he had been detailed to protect the women and children. Lusk was a member of the convention of the Republic of Texas that ratified annexation. He served as county clerk in Washington County from 1848 to 1858. He was among the earliest settlers of Brenham, Washington Co., Texas and served as its mayor in 1858-1859. Lusk died in Brenham, Washington Co., Texas on December 1, 1861, in a yellow fever epidemic, and is buried in the Masonic Cemetery there. His daughter, Malinda C. Lusk, married Dewitt C. Giddings, and his son, Patrick H. Lusk, drew a white bean in the Black Bean Episode and so survived the Mier expedition. He was released through the intervention of his uncle's friend Andrew Jackson.

Crumpler family. in Washington Co., TN on 28 September 1850.⁸⁴⁶ Patrick appears twice in the 1850 census. In the Nov. census he was a neighbor to his parents. Patrick appeared in the census on 4 November 1850 in Washington Co., TX.⁸⁴⁷ Patrick died in Washington, Washington Co., TX on 30 November 1861.
1013	ii.	Myra E. Lusk was born on 23 December 1824 in Tennessee. Myra died in Washington, Washington Co., TX on 1 April 1866.
1014	iii.	William S. Lusk was born on 11 February 1827 in Tennessee. William died in Washington, Washington Co., TX on 11 April 1846.
1015	iv.	Sarah E. Lusk was born on 9 March 1829 in Tennessee.
1016	v.	John Cain Lusk was born on 13 May 1831 in Tennessee. John died in Brenham, Washington Co., TX on 7 November 1875.
