Mrs. Aretta Cook Critcher, age 73, of 315 Will Cook Rd., Boone, died Saturday morning, June 4, 2005, a Watauga Medical Center.

She was born August 26, 1931, in Boone, Watauga County, to the late Dayton H. and Texie Hayes Cook. Mrs. Critcher was a graduate of Appalachian High School and a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lawford Critcher, of the home; four daughters, Deborah Page and husband, Gerald; Miriam Byrd and husband, John, and Martha Dotson and husband, Chris, all of Hickory, and Monica Dotson and husband Kevin, of Fleetwood; four sisters, Mrs. Faye Fox of Johnson City, Tenn.; Mrs. Mary Hill and Esther Williams and husband, Dana, all of Boone, and Anne Duckworth and husband, Wayne, of Spruce Pine; two brothers, Dayton Hoyt Cook and wife, Donna, of Connelly Springs and William Dennis Cook and wife Jackie, of Boone. She is also survived by11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted this afternoon (Monday) at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, officiated by pastor Sonny Younce and Rev. Burl Greer. Burial followed in Mount Lawn memorial Park & Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Critcher family, 315 Will Cook Rd., Boone, NC, 28607, for distribution to missionary work in Mexico and Peru.

Hampton Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
