McWhorterFeb. 15, 1933 - Feb. 10, 2018 OKLAHOMA CITY Essie Cliola (Coffey) McWhorter, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Feb. 10, 2018, at the age of 84 following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's. She was born on Feb. 15, 1933, in Board Camp, AR to Fred B. & Hazel E. (Perry) Coffey. Essie was a lifelong member of Billy Hooton Memorial United Methodist Church and played the piano there for 50-plus years. Her greatest love was her family. Essie is survived by her husband of 65 years, John W. McWhorter; five children, Stacia Morgan (Blair), Janna Clour (Michael), J. Mark McWhorter (Elizabeth), Michael McWhorter (Debbie), and Sharilyn Montgomery (Donnie); seven grandchildren, Brooke Cue (Max), M. Ryan McWhorter (Amy), Eric McWhorter, Malori McWhorter, Jonathan Clour, Alexis Wilcox, and Matthew McWhorter; step-grandson, Colwynn Ballenger; five great-grandchildren, Kyle Henderson (Carla), Taylor Herzer (Andrew), Rylee Henderson, Madilyn McWhorter, and Cooper McWhorter; one sister, Alfreda Hibbard (Otis); one brother, Johnny Coffey (Debbie); and a host of cousins, very special nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Nicole Clour. Essie was laid to rest in Board Camp, AR.

A living couple was married circa 1953. Living (private).
