Rachel Bishop HICKORY Rachel Coffey Bishop, 66, of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born Nov. 20, 1946, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Jones Coffey and Mary Jane Cook Coffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Harold Bishop. Mrs. Bishop was a retired supervisor from Burke Hosiery. She is survived by two sons, Keith Bishop and wife, Jennifer, of Claremont and Mark Bishop and wife, Debora, of Hickory; grandchildren, Amanda Diane Bishop of Mooresville, Sarah, Matthew and Megan Bishop, all of Claremont, Daniel and Kayla Bishop, both of Hickory, and Josh Collins of Lenoir; two sisters, Irene Bragg of Hickory and Reba McKee of Pilot Mountain; and her best friend, Rachel Church of Hickory. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Rd., Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28204.
