Mary died of a gunshot wound.

Note: Mary's surname is misspelled on her headstone.

Biographical information from William Thomson:

"[Mary's husband] Carl actually killed her by gunshot when she arrived at a streetcar stop on Vickery Blvd and Ash Crescent St., then committed suicide. The story was that she had been having an affair with another man and Carl was taking revenge."

From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Saturday, April 27, 1918, p. 7:

Funeral services for Mrs. M. B. Thomson, who was killed by her husband Thursday night, will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Spelman chapel. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Mary "Mollie" Brownlee and Carl Ennis Thomson were married. Carl Ennis Thomson, son of Elisha J. Thomson and Minnie Ellen Whitlow, was born on 25 January 1894. Carl died in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., TX on 26 April 1918 and was buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., TX on 27 April 1918 .24142
