Mrs. Stephanie Lee Scott, 61, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Tuesday evening, July 5, 2011, at her home. She had been ill for the last 7 ½ years.

A daughter of the late William Albert and Hilda Lee Coffey Powers, she was born on April 18, 1950.

Stephanie lived all of her life in the Harrisonburg area. She graduated from Harrisonburg High School and was an Advertising Director for the Daily News Record for 41 years. Mrs. Scott was a member of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon Eugene Scott; one son, Vernon E. Scott, II and special friend, Donna Hilliards of Elkton; one brother, Stephen Lee Powers and wife, Miriam of Atlanta, GA; three sisters-in-laws, Thelma Jean Shifflett of Bridgewater; Nancy Virginia Smith and husband, Donnie of Rawley Springs; and Carolyn Eye of Dayton; five nephews, Danny and Richard Ringgold, Scotty Wayne Eye, Greg Eye, Donald Wayne Smith; and one niece, Annette Hook.

The family will receive friends 7-8:00 PM, Thursday, July 7, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, July 8, 2011 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with the Pastor W. L. "Sonny" Henkel officiating. The casket will not be opened.
