Richard E. Coffey, 75, of Taylorville died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, Taylorville.

He was born March 1, 1923, in Stonington, the son of Elmer and Minnie Bliler Coffey. He married Jeanette Alcorn in 1975 in Taylorville.

Mr. Coffey retired as a heavy equipment operator after 35 years at Christian County Landfill and Local 965. He was a Navy veteran serving in World War II. A member of First Baptist Church of Stonington, Stonington American Legion, VFW Post 4495 and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors: wife, Jeanette; a daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Nancy) Briggs of Stonington; a stepdaughter, Karen Hall of Taylorville; a stepson, Leonard Durbin of Kincaid; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Porter of Taylorville, and Lillian Boldini of Stonington; and two brothers, Leon Coffey of Stonington, and Leland Coffey of California.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, the Rev.

Tiney Walker and the Rev. Joel Lohr officiating. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.

Jeanette M. Coffey, 75, of Taylorville, IL passed away at 3:43 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville. She was born December 5, 1936, in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Jack and Beulah Smith Alcorn. She married Leo Stanley Durbin in 1953 in Taylorville, IL. He preceded her in death in 1969. She then married Richard Coffey at Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville on May 24, 1975. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1998. She was an insurance representative and sales person for 34 years with Aflac Insurance Co. She was a licensed insurance producer for Aflac Insurance Co. She was a member of the Moose Lodge #1516 in Taylorville. Surviving are her son, Leonard Vaughn Durbin (companion Michelle Smith) of Kincaid; daughter, Karen Hall (companion Brad Cox) of Taylorville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Bobby (wife Sandy) Alcorn of Lake Tahoe, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; daughter, Sharon Durbin; and sister, Judy Hile. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2012, at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, with Rev. Tiney Walker, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.
