C.L. Coffey, 83, of Windsor, Missouri, died Wednesday evening, April 21, 2010, at his home in Windsor.

He was born June 22, 1926, in Windsor, Mo., the son of Buford Garfield Coffey and Delphia Ann (Campbell) Coffey. On September 8, 1950, in Buffalo, Mo., he married Peggy Sue Tindle, who survives of the home.

Mr. Coffey attended Lincoln High School, at Lincoln, Mo., and was drafted in the United States Army, before he could complete the 10th grade, and he served his country during World War II. He was a self-employed truck driver, hauling gravel, dirt and fertilizer, in the Windsor area for over 60 years. C.L. was a member of First Baptist Church, Windsor where he served as a deacon and church bus driver. He was also a youth choir sponsor and gave many years of service to his church donating his time, materials and use of his equipment. He was an avid country and bluegrass music fan.

In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by a son, Chuck Coffey, Windsor, Mo.; a daughter, Charlotte Nevius, Louisiana, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, Doug Coffey; Jason Coffey; Daniel Maloney; Eric Coffey; Mariah Clark; Lynndsey Harrison; Annie Kline and Elizabeth Nevius; 11 great-grandchildren, Julissia; Savannah; Zakary; Calea; BriLynn; Celsi; Evelyn; Josephine; Emma; Piper and Urijah; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, AriAhna and Zaiden. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. C.L. was known as “Grandpa” to many extended family members. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Dennis Coffey in June 1974 and Jim Coffey in January 2004; 2 great-grandchildren, Dalton Tyler Coffey and JayLynn Nevaeh Harrison; 3 brothers, Finis Coffey; Boss Coffey; and Clayton Coffey; 2 sisters, Agnes Swisher and Verdie Nations.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 24, at the First Baptist Church, Windsor, with Rev. Doug Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m., on Saturday before the service at the church. Friends may also call on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Hadley Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church or Crossroads Hospice, 2900 N.E. 60th St., Suite 150, Gladstone, Mo., 64119, and contributions may be left at the funeral home. Jimmie Len "Jack" Coffey, 51, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Windsor, Mo., died Saturday afternoon, January 15, 2005, at the St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born October 13, 1953, in Windsor, Mo., the son of Charles Lewis and Peggy Sue (Tindle) Coffey. On August 31, 1973, at the First Baptist Church in Windsor, "Jack" (as his friends knew him) married DeLisa Lynn Roberson and to this union two sons were born, Jason and Eric.

"Jim" (as his family knew him) made his profession of faith in the Lord on April 25, 1962, with his cousin Richard Coffey, at the First Baptist Church, in Windsor, and was baptized April 29, 1962. He played a solo version of "The Lily of the Valley" on the accordion at church when he was 10 years old. Jim graduated from Windsor High School and attended Central Missouri State College. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad out of the Windsor Substation. He also worked at the Windsor Rendering Plant and drove an oil tanker truck while living in Corpus Christi, Texas, with his family. He was a member of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church, Blue Springs, Mo.

Survivors include his parents, C.L. and Peggy Coffey, Windsor, Mo.; 2 sons, Jason M. Coffey and Eric J. Coffey, both of Blue Springs, Mo.; a brother, Chuck Coffey, Windsor, Mo.; a sister Charlotte Nevius, Louisana, Mo.; a granddaughter, Calea Coffey and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Coffey; a grandson, Dalton Tyler Coffey and a great-niece, JayLynn Nevaeh Harrison.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 18, 2:00 p.m., at the Hadley funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Doug Hall officiating. Recordings of "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and "Imagine" by John Lennon will be played. Cary Peach, organist, will play "The Lily of the Valley". Casket bearers will be Jason Coffey, Eric Coffey, Chuck Coffey, Doug Coffey, Robbie Coffey, and Randy Coffey. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
