STAUNTON -- Mrs. Lydia Bell Coffey Fitzgerald, 93, widow of John H. Fitzgerald, of 114 Peyton St., died at 5:10 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 13, 1998) in Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville. She was born Jan. 14, 1905, at Montebello, a daughter of Floyd F. and Bertha Coffey.

Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of Grubert Avenue Church of God. Her husband preceded her in death in 1972. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Viola Coffey of Staunton; a sister, Mrs. Mamie G. Bryant of Staunton; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Grubert Avenue Church of God by the Rev. H. Wayne Collier. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Charles Hodge Jr., Maynard Lawson, Matthew Coffey, Dale Brooks, Ricky Botkin, Kenny Losh and Shane Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the Henry Funeral Home and at other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Staunton-West Augusta County Unit, P.O. Box 2614, Staunton, Va. 24402.

Lydia Bell Coffey and John H. Fitzgerald were married on 5 July 1924 in Nelson Co., VA.29617 John H. Fitzgerald was born in 1903 in Nelson Co., VA. John died in 1972.
