Lerna, Nov. 17 --  Mrs. Oscar Coffey died at the home of her mother, Mrs. William Hamilton, at this place on Monday evening about 5 o'clock after a brief illness.

Mrs. Coffey, with her husband, was a resident of Gays until about two months ago, when she came here to live with her mother temporarily, Mr. Coffey going to Mattoon, where he is at present employed at his trade in one of the barber shops of that city.  The deceased was in good health up to about a week ago, when she gave birth to a child.  From that date the mother began to fail, and sank steadily until her death relieved her of her sufferings.

The deceased was 23 years of age, and besides her mother and husband and the little child, for whom she gave up her life to bring it into the world, leaves other relatives and many friends to regret her untimely end.  The aged mother and the bereaved and heartbroken husband have the sympathy of the entire community.

The funeral services were held at 1 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. Murray, after which the remains were conveyed to the Paradise Cemetery, where burial was made.
