In Newport News, a 3-year-old girl struck by an auto entering a used car log last night, died half an hour later in a hospital.

State Trooper C. L. Bailey said the child, Patricia Ann Hagan, was struck by an auto driven by Wilford M. Coffey, 41, salesman for the company operating the lot.

The trooper said the girl jumped from her parents' parked auto and darted in front of Coffey's machine.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Hagan, of Ferguson Park, Warwick County.

Since the child was fatally injured on private property, she death is not counted in the State traffic toll.

Wilfred died at High Point Memorial Hospital in High Point, Guilford Co., NC on 15 March 2003 and was buried at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point, Guilford Co., NC in March 2003 .29551,29552

HIGH POINT — Mrs. Clarice Lee Jessup Christian Coffey, 94, resident of Westchester Harbour, died February 22, 2016 at Hospice Home at High Point.

Mrs. Coffey was born May 5, 1921 in Stokes County, a daughter to the late Charles H. and Annie Lee Lawson Jessup. She was a homemaker, loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She was the only survivor of her 14 siblings and was also preceded in death by two husbands, James Irvin Christian in 1970 and Wilford Myers Coffey in 2003.

Surviving are her sons, Charlie Christian and wife Martha and Mike Christian and wife Angel; and her grandchildren, Ryan, Chad and Jessica.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Pastor Roy Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
